What a compatibility score can and cannot tell you

Most compatibility quizzes compare two Sun signs against a table. Synastry does something different: it lays two full charts over each other and looks at the angles between the placements.

The number you get is a summary of many separate contacts. Some of them are easy and some create friction, and the score flattens all of that into one figure. A high score usually means the two charts agree in obvious ways. It does not mean the relationship is effortless, and plenty of people find the frictional pairings more interesting to be in.

Read the breakdown rather than the number. Which parts are smooth and which parts take work is the useful information.

How it is calculated

You enter two birth dates. Birth times are optional, but they sharpen the Moon and make the Rising possible, and both carry a lot of weight in relationship readings.

The engine compares the personal placements between the two charts and scores the angles they form.

You get a score, an archetype for the pairing, and a short read on what tends to come easily between these two charts and what tends to need attention.

Common questions

Can this tell us whether we will last?

No. It describes how two charts interact, which is a different question from whether two people stay together. Timing, effort, and everything happening outside the chart matter more.

We got a low score. Should we worry?

A low number means more friction between the placements, not failure. Look at which pairings are rough and whether they match something you already recognise in the relationship.

Do we need exact birth times?

You can run it without them. The trade-off is that the Moon becomes approximate and the Rising cannot be calculated, so the reading loses some of the parts that speak most directly to relationships.

Does it work for friends or family?

Yes. Synastry compares two charts and does not assume the relationship is romantic.
